Getting Started with BlackBerry

I'm just trying to document my learning process of BlackBerry from scratch. I realized not everything works as expected and resources aren't so easy to find.

Installing the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse

System requirements
• Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon™ Desktop Processor 2.5GHz or faster
• 1.5 GB or more available hard disk space
• 2 GB RAM or more
• Monitor with 1024 x 768 resolution or higher
• Windows Vista®, Windows® XP, or Windows® 7 (Note: 64-bit versions require 32-bit Java® and 32-bit Eclipse).
• Java® Platform, Standard Edition Development Kit (JDK) 6, update 14 or later.
• Eclipse® Classic 3.6.x.

Install the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse and the Eclipse IDE
Before you begin: You must download the BlackBerry® Java® Plug-in for Eclipse® setup application. To download the setup application
that includes the Eclipse IDE, visit www.blackberry.com/developers/java.
1. Double-click the setup application file.
2. On the Introduction screen, click Next.
3. Accept or decline the terms of the license agreement.
4. Click Next.
5. Specify an empty folder where you want to install the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse and the Eclipse IDE.
6. Click Next.
7. On the Select Additional Tasks screen, select where you want the setup application to create shortcuts for the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse .
8. Click Next.
9. Review the information on the Pre-installation Summary screen and click Install.
10. Click Done.

Configuration

Specify the BlackBerry update site
1. On the Help menu, click Install New Software.
2. In the Available Software dialog box, click Add.
3. In the Name field, type a name.
4. In the Location field, type http://www.blackberry.com/go/eclipseUpdate/3.6/java. Note: Do not type this URL into your browser's address bar.
5. Click OK.
6. Close the Install window.
